Grammy beckons

Over the years, several Indian musicians have been nominated for the Grammys. Last time I remember, it was in 1994, when Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt was on everyone's lips. He won the Grammy (along with guitarist Ry Cooder) for his album "A Meeting by the River".

This year we have two nominations in the same category-
Best Contemporary World Music Album (Vocal or Instrumental)

Asha Bhosle-
You've Stolen My Heart - Songs From R.D. Burman's Bollywood
Kronos Quartet & Asha Bhosle

Anoushka Shankar- for the album Rise ... featured in our very first post ...

And Anoushka's step sister Norah Jones is also in the contention for a few Grammys this year, in the categories-
Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals,
Best Country Collaboration With Vocals.

It was rumoured that ... Sarod player Ustad Amjad Ali Khan's latest album ‘Moksha’ has been nominated for a Grammy in the ‘traditional world’ category. But that doesn't seem to be the case from the list featured on Grammy.com
